Write to Ottawa requesting a Panel Review

Posted by Stop Ajax Mine on January 14th, 2016 3:58am

Hello Stop Ajax Mine members:

We all know that, soon, Mayor Milobar and Councillor Lange will be travelling to Ottawa to meet with Environment Minister Catherine McKenna to request a Federal panel review of the proposed Ajax mine.  In support of this meeting KAPA would like to see an avalanche of letters requesting a panel review landing on McKenna’s and other cabinet ministers’ desks before our delegation arrives.

This is where you come in! Please write letters to the ministers listed below and send them via Canada Post (no postage stamp needed). We think this will have more impact than emailed letters. Your letters may be short and focused on whatever you are passionate about – for example:

*the dust and diesel fumes that would blanket our valley which is prone to inversions
*the 6 square km tailings reservoir, three times the size of Mount Polley reservoir, poised above our city
*the noise and vibration of blasting daily for 23 years
*the destruction of native grasslands and wildlife
*the drawing of massive amounts of water from Kamloops Lake

There is lots of information on our website, www.stopajaxmine.ca, to draw ideas from if you need help composing your letters.

If you focus on one point and then request a Federal panel review, that will send a clear message to Ottawa.

Here are the addresses. Be sure to act right away so that our letters get to Ottawa in spite of the Christmas rush!
